Cut Opening in Subfloor
Cut a 5 1/4” x 10” hole in the subfloor. Orient the 10” length perpendicular to the direction of your flooring.
Tip: Add blocking along the 10” sides of the hole, keeping enough clearance for the mounting tabs if Gyp-Crete is not used.
Place Box in Opening
Drop the box into the hole.
If no Gyp-Crete, position the tabs under the subfloor.
If Gyp-Crete (1.5”), position the tabs on top of the subfloor.
Pull the electrical wire through the center opening of the box.
Secure the Box
Use the pre-drilled holes to fasten the box to the blocking.
Tip: Center the box beneath a single flooring plank for the cleanest finished look.
Protect the Box
Temporarily cover the box to protect it during the rest of construction.
Tip: Use OSB with temporary screws to keep box clean and safe.
Install Finish Flooring
Lay flooring directly over the box and wire. Completely cover the box.
Do not drill into the flooring above the box.
Tip: Mark the box location before covering to make future steps easier.
Locate the Box with Installation Kit
Use the magnetic locator tool to find the box beneath the finished floor.
Confirm that all four corners are magnetically locked.
Tip: A slight (1/4”) adjustment may improve alignment with flooring seams. The box is adjustable post installation.
Position Routing Template
Mark the outline and secure the routing template using double-sided tape.
Tip: Apply painter’s tape underneath the routing area for cleaner cuts and easier cleanup.
Prepare Router
Use the provided universal router bushing and 1/8” router bit.
Set the appropriate depth on your router for a clean cut and to avoid damage to box.
Route the Lid Opening
Start at the arrow on the template.
Make multiple shallow passes, gradually increasing depth until the cut is complete.
Prepare Flooring Lid
Place the flooring lid into the second routing template, finished side down.
Route Wire Channels
Use the template to route the two semi-circles that allow wire passthrough.
Sanding the Flooring Lid
Sand the lid and opening as needed
Insert Lid into Gasket
Fit the routed flooring lid into the included gasket.
Tip: Ensure proper fit before clamping and glueing lid into gasket.
