On Lazuthea, a subspecies of the Fluogens has started to emerge. Though they exhibit many of the same traits as Fluogens, they live under the water and have scales rather than fur. Though they started as a crossbreed, Merogens have become more and more common to see about. They have even developed their own patterns of rarity. Much like fluogens you can find common, rare, mutation and crossbreeds. The basic ones being Common and rare:
For Merogen The most common thing you will find is some kind of fish tail. Though you will see any kind or number of fins, they tend to mimic other fish found on many planets. In rare cases however you will see their tails mimicking other sea life, such as octopi, jellyfish, sea horses, etc. Or in other rare cases their tails will not have the protective skin, showing the glass underneath. Any tails that mimic sealife with shells, such as shrimp, lobster, and sea snails are considered mutations. Their fins may appear anywhere on their bodies. They can have webbed fingers, though they are rare.
Typical Merogen ears have between three and five points, with webbing in between. Though they may show the same ears as Fluogens as well. In rare cases they will mimic other kinds of fins.
Their horns can come in any shape or size. The most common is to have two horns. However, on rare occasions their horns can connect or they can have a different number of horns.
Scars in the skin will show the glass underneath. In rare cases, the skin will never grow, showing the glass underneath, which leaves the glass more open to cracks and breaks. Though when breaks occur it is possible to replace them with any kind of prosthetic imaginable.
The trait that all Merogens who developed their skin will have is the diamond shaped window on their chest. This window shows the essence that flows beneath their glass. Most commonly the essence will be one color, and the glass will be the same color but lighter. In rare cases the essence can have two tones, more than that is considered a mutation. Other rare cases are: the glass can be colored either a different color to the essence (in a gradient or solid), the glass will be darker than the essence, or the window will be in a place that isn't the chest.
Merogens will also have gills that show the color of their glass either on their necks or ribs.
Other important things to note about a Merogen:
They do not have pupils.
Unless they have a claw mutation, they do not have nails.
They do not have bellybuttons.
They will always only have the one aquatic form! The ability to switch back and forth between an aquatic and land form is a crossbreed only trait!
Most importantly, have fun with any patterns or markings on their skin / scales. There is no rarity to the patterns or colors, so go wild!
As far as mutations go, there may be some that are exclusive to Merogens that will be documented when observed. However, all of the typical Flugen Mutations have also been observed in Merogens, as well as any body modifications.
