Do tortoises perceive vibrations from road traffic? We set up an experimental arena to find out. This research was conducted within the grant AOSR-TEAMS II An integrative methodological approach for monitoring the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca) (PI: Florina Stănescu, 2022-2024).
Fish do not belong in alpine lakes naturally. In Romania, one particular species was widely introduced in alpine lakes - the common minnow, Phoxinus phoxinus. We studied the impact of this fish on the development and behavior of common frog tadpoles. This research was conducted within the grant BiodiveRestore FishME - Social and ecological effects of Fish removal in Mountain Ecosystems (PI: Dan Cogălniceanu, 2022-2024).
Can we use sounds to assess the wellbeing of an ecosystem? We are currently studying the amazing soundscapes from Retezat National Park. Check out some samples in SoundCloud!
