Florian Cafiero

I am a Fellow in Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities and Social Sciences at Paris Sciences et Lettres University (PSL), where I give lectures in digital humanities and computational social science at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris and Ecole nationale des chartes. I am also a researcher at Centre Jean Mabillon - Ecole nationale des chartes - PSL., and an affiliate researcher at the Center for Digital Humanities and Multilateralism at the Geneva Graduate Institute.

My research currently focus on the application of computational methods to the field of diplomacy and international negotiations. After a stay as a visiting scholar at Columbia University in 2022, I have been part in 2023 of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) run by the U.S. Department of State.  I am now  part of the Climate Change Social Science Network at Brown University, and co-principal investigator with Ian Gray (Columbia University) of a project on climate change obstruction.

I have also been interested in radicalization processes and critical thinking. Since 2019, I am a member of the "Critical thinking" group of France's Ministry of National Education Scientific Council. I have also been a principal investigator for a project on the online presence of cults held by the Interministerial Mission of Vigilance and Combat against Sectarian Drifts (MIVILUDES).

I have also worked a lot on authorship attribution and forensic linguistics. With my colleague Jean-Baptiste Camps, we recently published a book regarding these topics, Affaires de style (Le Robert).  This follows our work regarding Molière authorship dispute, or our study on QAnon for the New York Times.

All my scientific publications and my resume are available on the CNRS open archive HAL. The code for most of my projects is posted on Github

An Ecole Normale Supérieure - Paris Saclay and Ecole nationale des chartes - PSL alumnus, I received my PhD from Sciences Po - Paris.
