Gannon Celebrates Black History Month! On February 19, 2025, Gannon University will host Grammy-award winner, internationally-touring concert pianist Michelle Cann, foremost interpreter of the music of Florence Price (1887-1953). Price was the first African American woman to have her work performed by a major symphony orchestra. Gannon students will narrate this concert, helping audiences understand Price's life amidst the broad arc of African American history.
On the program: Price's Piano Sonata in E Minor and her Concerto in D Minor (arranged for quintet), featuring musicians from the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra.
