Author's Note:
This story is based off of the story of Deucalion and Pyrrha. I stayed fairly close to the original story, but added in some additional choices that didn't happen in the original story.
The protagonist of the story is this person that for whatever reason is having to live through all these flood stories. This is their first story that they've been placed in, so they're starting with no experience of living through a apocalyptic flood, hopefully just like the reader. In this story, there were more ways to not survive the flood than there were to survive. In the end, their method of survival (basically just climbing into a box and hoping for the best) was fairly crude compared to some other flood stories. This was all supposed to somewhat represent the protagonist's and the reader's inexperience with these kind of bizarre but also serious situations.
The original UN-Textbook story didn't include a description of Prometheus warning Deucalion about the imminent flood, so that was another part that I added. Prometheus was the Titan that brought fire to humanity, so I thought he would be the kind of character that would say something like "I'm not supposed to do/say this but I'm going to anyway."
The ending of the story was partially me trying to explain that the protagonist doesn't have to live through the character's entire life and also my way of ending the story when I realized I had reached the max word count.
