Delaware

Delawares are fast maturers and among the earliest layers of brown eggs. Their plumage is nearly all white with black speckles around their neck and some black tail feathers.  They will lay up to 260 eggs/year.  Ruby Red, our Delaware named after a drag queen, was the top of the flock for most of her days.  Her dependability as a solid leader and reliable egg layer was the stuff chicken keeping dreams are made of.
