Belgian d'Uccles may be the cutest chickens on the planet! As a true bantam breed, they do not have a standard sized counterpart, so only come in mini. These heavily feathered cuties are incredibly hardy, gentle and curious. Our oldest chicken to date was Penny, an 11 year old mille fleur Belgian d'Uccle. That's her with the gold base and black and white speckles, known as the mille fleur color. The d'Uccles also come in a porcelain color with the same speckling but in blues, grays and whites. The hatchery sends a mix of both so we cannot take specific color requests. Belgian d'Uccles lay 2 to 4 tiny cream colored eggs per week. Hens are known to go broody. At maturity these mini chickens weight about 1 1/3 lbs. d'Uccles make excellent pets and are ideal for smaller coops and run spaces.
NOTE- most bantam breeds of chickens are offered straight run, or unsexed, making it a 50% hen/50% rooster ratio. Flock City bantams are sexed to 90% accuracy (90% hen/10% rooster ratio) reflecting the higher price point. These birds also come with a sex accuracy guarantee. If you suspect a cockerel, and the chick is at least 14 weeks old, you send me a picture so we can determine together. If yes to a cockerel, I send the pics to the hatchery and we both get 50% of our money back.
