Are Easter Eggers and Americanas the same? Basically. They are both Ameraucana crosses with the difference in name from the proprietary cross created by the specific hatchery. Ameraucanas are a pure breed, Easter Eggers and Americanas are not. And they're fabulous! Both of these crosses are bearded, calm and personable, and typically lay blue eggs. With their comical beards and typically docile personality, they are a chicken fan favorite. That cute, little pea comb makes these birds cold hardy. They are solid layers (up to 240/year) of various shades of blue eggs, although up to 10% of these crosses will lay brown or pink eggs.
