Students respond to videos and interact with them far more (one teacher reported an increase from 60% to 100% when he started making his own) if the video features his/her own teacher. This is also a way to deepen the relationships you are building with students during your face-to-face time.
You can amend videos created by others - even include your own voiceover) using tools like Playposit and EdPuzzle.
You can create your own screencasts using the tools listed below.
Screencasting is the capture of all of the action on a computer screen while you are narrating. Like the one directly below.
Plan on video lengths of 1.5 minutes per grade level. So, a maximum video length for 12th grade English would be 18 minutes aka the maximum length of a TED talk!
Less is more. The flipped classroom model should not add homework time. Create and curate your videos carefully, remembering what you need your students to understand by the end of the unit.

Playposit is similar to EdPuzzle. PlayPosit is an online learning environment to create and share interactive video lessons. Teachers begin with any online video (screencasts, Khan Academy, TED, etc.) and transform what is traditionally passive content into an active experience for students, with time-embedded activities.
