The Menomonie Area Homeschool Group

About: The Menomonie Area Homeschool Group is a community of families with diverse backgrounds and ideas that share a passion for home learning. We meet to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment for our children and families.

Parents, kids, or people from the community teach the classes offered,  which usually change month to month. The day includes two morning classes (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.), lunch (12:00-1:00 p.m.), play time, and clean up. Outside of the regular Thursday schedule, there may also be other activities throughout the year.

When: We meet every Thursday, October through May (except holidays), for cooperative classes and socializing. Late summer through September you may find us preparing for our annual theatrical production.

Contact:  Visit us on a Thursday during classes to see if we're a good fit for your family. If we are full you can be added to our waiting list. For more information, email or call Liss (410) 804-4881.

TranscenDance

Facilitator: Jessica Fischer

A combination of moving meditation, soul-stirring music, self-expression and sweat. Dance for 60 minutes straight in a free-form style that makes room for every person to respond to the music in their own way…yoga, walking meditation, vocalizing, internal exploration, playful partnering; everyone making room for everyone else.

The playlist starts and ends in a meditative state. There are often a couple of earthy songs in the mix to ground us with drums or nature-inspired lyrics, and the middle songs are chaotic and driving. I’ve experienced our dances as movement through emotional responses to music that help loosen up places where we might be stuck…all within a supportive community & open to all genders. Invite friends. The more energy we create together, the more powerful our dance can be!

When:

Sporadic Sundays: 3:00-4:30 p.m.

Cost:

$7 suggested donation helps pay for the music and time to build our playlists, but please don't let money keep you from coming. We want you on the dance floor!

Equipment/Clothing:

Bring a full water bottle and wear clothing that allows you to move freely and layer as needed.
