Cone Calorimetry – Industry-Leading Fire Testing Technology
(ISO 5660, ASTM E1354 Compliant)
Cone Calorimetry, as defined by ISO 5660 and ASTM E1354, remains the cornerstone of small-scale fire testing in laboratories worldwide. FTE Cone Calorimeter line is engineered to meet every major international standard, including ISO 5660, ASTM E1354, ASTM E1474, ASTM E1740, ASTM F1550, ASTM D6113, CAN ULC 135, and BS 476 Part 15.
Introduced in 2013, the iCone Calorimeter marked the beginning of FTE F-series: a new generation of fully automated, user-friendly, and highly reliable calorimetry instruments. Leveraging modern control systems and intuitive interfaces, the iCone sets a benchmark for precision and ease of use in fire testing.
The iCone line has since expanded to include two semi-automatic models:
F-Cone mini – Compact design with a separate gas analysis rack
F-Cone classic – Features an integrated gas analysis console on the main frame
These models replace the earlier FTE Dual Cone and Standard Cone models, offering improved functionality and enhanced automation.
The flagship F-Cone introduces refinements to the fire model and protective glass screen, offering even more sophisticated features than its predecessors. It is the most advanced model in the iCone range, delivering maximum flexibility, automation, and control.
All FTE calorimeters use a combination of a Peltier cooling device and drying agents to completely eliminate moisture in the sample gas stream. This ensures consistent baseline oxygen levels and prevents deviation that can result in inaccurate heat release rate data. Testing has shown that using a Peltier device alone can cause baseline drift, making this dual approach essential for precision.
