Cone Calorimetry (ISO 5660 and ASTM E1354) is recognized as the world's most important bench-scale fire testing method for determining the reaction-to-fire characteristics of materials. It provides comprehensive data on heat release, smoke production, mass loss, ignition behavior, and combustion gas generation under controlled radiant heat exposure.
The Flaretest iCone Series Cone Calorimeters are designed and manufactured to comply with all major international standards, including:
ISO 5660
ASTM E1354
ASTM E1474
ASTM E1740
ASTM F1550
ASTM D6113
CAN/ULC-S135
BS 476 Part 15
The Flaretest iCone Series includes three advanced models designed to suit different laboratory requirements and budgets.
iCone²⁺ – Fully automated premium model
iCone Mini – Semi-automatic model with separate gas analysis rack
iCone Classic – Semi-automatic model with integrated gas analysis console
The latest iCone²⁺ incorporates an upgraded fire model and enhanced protective glass screen, offering improved safety, automation, reliability, and testing accuracy.
All Flaretest Cone Calorimeters utilize an advanced Peltier cooling system combined with a high-efficiency drying agent to completely remove moisture from the combustion gas stream before gas analysis.
This dual-stage moisture removal system prevents baseline oxygen drift and ensures highly accurate Heat Release Rate (HRR) measurements.
Testing has shown that using only a Peltier cooler can allow oxygen baseline drift beyond the limits specified in ISO 5660, resulting in inaccurate calorimetric measurements.
