Exhibit 9

Homepage Design

Background: This week, I decided to design a webpage for an imaginary business. I wanted to play around with blending modes, so I created the woman first and then put the rest of the page together.

Design:

  • Alignment: I used the spacing tool to evenly align all of the text across the top of the page as well as the logo. I then aligned the word Antigua so that it filled the same amount of space as the header. I also aligned Antigua with the middle line of the page.

  • Proximity: The buttons across the top are in proximity to make clear that they each would take you to a different section of the site. Then there is space between those and the name of the salon to distinguish between the two.

  • Repetition: I've used consistent fonts across the header and for 'hair salon'

  • Contrast: The background photo for the woman has natural contrasts of blue and yellow. I used the dropper tool to pull those into the fonts to create more repetition as well as contrast. I've created additional contrast between the font type and sizes for Antigua and Hair Salon.

Photoshop Skills Used:

  • I used the selection tool to remove the woman from her original background.

  • I then created a mask and filled the image of the woman with the background image.

  • I used various blending modes, masks and layers to get the look I wanted for the woman and then created a composite image.

  • I used the horizontal text tool for all of the text.
