The youth village, a great meeting place for the participants, will be built in the middle of Atlas College. There will be an outer and inner part, which allows adaptations to weather conditions. All week long various social and cultural activities will be organized in the village. A free podium will be erected, on which the participants and the youth of Genk can demonstrate their talents. All sports venues are within walking distance.
The Holy Mass will be celebrated in the Youth Village.
In the inner part of the youth village the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will be projected on a large screen. There are stands for the spectators.
The opening ceremony will be held in the large hall of SportinGenk Park. There will be a big stage and the stands can accommodate 1000 spectators. On this occasion there will be musical performances and dances by local ensembles.
We will organize a multicultural evening where the different communities of Genk will highlight their culture and offer their culinary specialties. In the youth forum discussions will be held in connection with social themes.
The cultural excursion is a visit of C-mine, where the participants will encounter the history of the Genk coal mines. The following walk emphases 4 highlights of Genk: city of coal mining, multicultural city, city of sports and green city.
The heritage of coal mining is impressive. C-mine, located on the former site of the Winterslag mine, hosts artistic workshops. Here you can visit exhibitions, enjoy art, follow creative trainings and enjoy the best movies. The interactive expedition takes you to the underground corridors. Around the Winterslag mine a multicultural world has developed. Italy, Turkey and Greece have been mixed into a garden of tastes.
The bazaar, preceded by a colorful parade behind the different flags, will be organized in the center of Genk. The young participants will show the characteristics of their country and their culture to the others.
At the bazaar the sale of traditional products is a great succes and the collected money goes to a charity project.
The closing ceremony in the main hall of SportinGenk Park will be a great event attended by local music and dance groups. Afterwards there will be a Farewell party in the central part of the sports centre.
