Working to make Firth Park Friendly and Fun For All.
Friends of Firth Park
Formed in 2000, the Friends of Firth Park group works with the Council's Parks department to improve the facilities and environment of the park. They are passionate about building a strong sense of community and believe that the park is the focal point for this. Friends look for extra funding and put on activities, events and work days; they volunteer their time to make the park a friendlier and safer place for local people to come together in.
Making a Difference
Events the Friends have organised include May Day celebrations, concert bands, Halloween parties, Christmas Singalongs, litter picks and willow den maintenance days. Friends play a big part in organising the main park festivals too, specifically the Summer Tea Tent and Winter Santa's Grotto. Friends also runs a book group and Zumba class in the pavilion and they have raised money for more benches, play equipment, signage and for the Ripples project.
The Ripples Project
Your Park Needs Your Voice
The Friends group meets in the bowling pavilion bi-monthly*. Anyone who is interested in becoming involved in the group is welcome to come along. Volunteers are always needed; the bigger and more representative of local residents the group is, the stronger the community's voice will be in making decisions about the park.
*No meeting in December
