In the 2021 census, the population of 'Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander' residents was 4.3% Coleambally and 18.4% in Darlington Point, compared to the national average of 3.2% (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2021). First Nations education is vital in all Australian schools, however, even more crucial with such a large population of First Nations people in the area, as it can be assumed that there are a larger than average number of First Nations students attending the school.
