Where Justice Abides

When we think about Beloved Community, one can’t help starting with justice. UU white

supremacy is being called out and challenged in our culture and our faith. We are gaining

insights and slowly making steps forward thanks to the faith leaders of color about how to

journey into multicultural wholeness. So, what’s one of the ways our faith guides us into

becoming a people of Beloved Community? It tells us to “work towards justice!”

Chalice Words:

"True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice."

--Martin Luther King Jr.

Meditation Moment:

Social Justice Stretching

Reach down to the grassroots (touch your toes)

Reach up tp the sky for inspiration

Stomp out injustice

Move in the winds of change (spread your arms and twist)

Creative Connection:

Journal Moment! Write a Golden Shovel Poem. Take a line (or lines) from a poem you admire. Use each word in the line (or lines) as an end word in your poem. Keep the end words in order. Give credit to the poet who originally wrote the line (or lines). The new poem does not have to be about the same subject as the poem that offers the end words.”
