Creating a concept is a very time-consuming part of an artist’s work. I sometimes like to do this when a client’s initial request is still unclear, but they’ve left it entirely up to me.
I start by considering the topic, the objective, and the atmosphere provided. After that, I look for elements similar to the request. If I find elements that closely match the request, I incorporate them into my concept.
Then I start drawing.
Deciding on the concept and mood of an image greatly influences the colors I choose. I select colors based on the purpose and story I want to convey, as well as the traits and characteristics I want to highlight.
Sometimes it’s good to exaggerate a concept, but I always try to keep it consistent with the given context.
Because, in my opinion, aesthetics are important as well.
Here are some examples of my work from my long-time clients, spanning my career as an illustrator—from exhibitions and private commissions to drawing fan art of other people’s characters.
I’m thrilled when people not only pay me to draw but also take the time to learn more about my creative process!
