You can create a new folder for the Beta version (for example, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox Beta\) then download the full, offline installer from -US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-beta and do a custom installation so you can choose the destination folder. See Custom installation of Firefox on Windows for details.

The last few days of the nightly cycle, before merge day (when mozilla-central is merged into the mozilla-beta repository and a new release cycle starts), is a nightly soft code freeze, meaning that developers should not land on mozilla-central code that is deemed risky for the stability and general quality of Firefox and that features that are controlled by a pref and were not activated during the nightly cycle should not be activated during this week.

The beta channel of the Firefox snap package is currently version 60.0b10, but the stable channel of the Firefox snap package is currently version 59.0.2-1, the same as the default Firefox apt package (version 59.0.2). So uninstall the Firefox snap package and install the default Firefox package instead. Open the terminal and type:

You don't have to compile anything, just unarchive the tar.bz2 file into your /home or your /opt folder if you want to make it available to all the accounts on your machine and launch the firefox file from your shell. If you decide to install Firefox Nightly outside of your Home, such as in /opt/firefoxnightly, don't forget to give this folder the same rights as your user otherwise it won't auto-update:

After five weeks of testing on the Firefox Aurora channel, the next version of Firefox is ready for the beta channel. This release includes the Firefox channel switcher, performance and stability enhancements and support for the new CSS Animations standard to allow developers build more amazing Web experiences. The new Firefox channel switcher lets users move between Firefox Aurora, Beta and Release channels to test features at various levels of development, quality and polish.

v.8.0, offered to beta channel users on September 29th, 2011Thank you for helping us test the future of Firefox! If you do not wish to participate in the beta program, you can switch to the release channel or manually install the latest released version of Firefox.

If you do not wish to participate in the beta program, you can switch to the release channel or manually install the latest released version of Firefox. You can remove Firefox Beta with the Add/Remove Programs utility on Windows, by moving the Firefox application to the Trash on Mac OS X, or by deleting the containing folder on Linux.

That being said support for a beta version of any browser or operating system is going to be limited. By their nature beta versions of software are always changing so maintaining support for that is difficult.

I'm using beta build 2.12.2 of the Firefox extension. When opening the OneDrive website, the site is reloading every 6 - 8 seconds. You can see this behavior right on the login screen. When disabling 1Password beta extension, the site works fine. There is no reloading.

@DenalB it's definitely a strange find, and I can see how it would be hard to work with OneDrive with it present. I do want to note that I did not run into an issue with OneDrive using the stable version of the extension in Firefox. And the beta seems to work with OneDrive in other browsers. For the time being, I recommend one of those options as a workaround!

@DenalB it may take some time for our devs to address this issue -- feel free to reach out for updates and we'll check on that for you. In the meantime, I hope all is well with OneDrive and the beta extension Edge. If you run into any issues at all there, please let us know.

The Developer version is updated every few days and is reviewed by the developers. After this comes Beta, where you will usually find stable version candidates, which are reviewed by the developers to ensure they do not include bugs. In most cases, these beta versions directly become the stable version you download, as they don't have any bugs.

Based on feedback from miguel above, I noticed some strange messages in the journalctl -e about the firefox extension KDE Plasma Integration, something do with sockets. My firefox installs are synced so I get a common set of extensions, and sometimes I use KDE Plasma, although all the four installs I am talking about here are Ubuntu (gnome). I removed that extension and did a firefox refresh on all the desktops. ON each desktop the update to 114.0b7 worked. Immediately after exiting Firefox, snap changes shows the update starting and it takes around 10 seconds or so (I did not time this).

Pre-release channels are not supported on addons.mozilla.org (AMO), so if you would like to have a limited group of users test a beta version of your extension, you will need to take the following steps to set up your own channel using an self-hosted version of your extension:

In the manifest.json of the beta version, specify the location of your update manifest. This will ensure that your beta users will receive future updates. If your release channel is also self-hosted, you will need to use a different update URL for the beta channel.

You will need to follow the same process to add new versions to your beta channel. As long as you have set the location of the update manifest, beta users will automatically receive updates of the beta version as you make them available. Note that only beta users will get these updated versions. You will need to separately update your release channel to push updates to your release users.

If you decide to discontinue your beta channel and your add-on is listed on AMO, you can release a final beta version without an update URL in the manifest. This will tell Firefox to check AMO for updates, and within a few days users will be migrated to the main update branch. If your release channel is also self-hosted, you must change the update URL of your final beta version to match the main release version.

DevEdition got the new debugger by default, forced multi process even if you had incompatible addons, had the new compact themes before they landed in beta.It is just Beta with more experimental features and tools enabled(see the list).

Just like the Firefox Nightly Debs Mozilla announced back in October, Debian packages for Firefox beta and Developer Edition are available to install from a dedicated APT repository maintained by Mozilla developers directly.

This is a version of Firefox tailored for developers. Firefox Developer Edition has all the latest developer tools that have reached beta. We also add some extra features for developers that are only available in this channel. It uses its own path and profile, so that you can run it alongside Release or Beta Firefox.

If you want to run the latest prerelease version of a Zotero component (e.g., to take advantage of a recent bug fix or test a new feature), you can install a beta build. These versions are built regularly and may be less stable than release versions.

To revert to the release version, reinstall it from the download page, though note that beta versions occasionally update the database such that downgrading isn't possible without reverting to a backup copy of zotero.sqlite in the Zotero data directory or removing the local data directory and syncing to pull down data from the online library. You'll always be able to switch to the next major production release of Zotero.

Help developers test beta versions of their apps and App Clips using the TestFlight app. Download TestFlight on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Watch, and iMessage. Apple Vision Pro will already have TestFlight installed.

Each build is available to test for up to 90 days, starting from the day the developer uploads their build. You can see how many days you have left for testing under the app name in TestFlight. TestFlight will notify you each time a new build is available and will include instructions on what you need to test. Alternatively, with TestFlight 3 or later, you can turn on automatic updates to have the latest beta builds install automatically.

When the testing period is over, you'll no longer be able to open the beta build. To install the App Store version of the app, download or purchase the app from the App Store. In-app purchases are free only during beta testing, and any in-app purchases made during testing will not carry over to App Store versions.

Note: To automatically download additional in-app content and assets in the background once a beta app is installed in iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or macOS 13, turn on Additional In-App Content in your App Store settings for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. ff782bc1db
