Production
When we have your desired strain in hand, we follow the steps underneath.
Step 1: Sorting
Step 2: Decarboxylate at the scientifically prescribed temperature for the correct duration. The molecular structures of Delta-9 THC underneath show before and after the process.
Step 3: Surface Expansion
Step 4: Soak the fine cannabis in 99,99% alcohol (Food grade ethanol). Anything less pure is less effective. Below, you can see an extraction analysis that shows the effect of time. Note that some tests are omitted, but those missing cannabinoids are included in the final tincture:
%CBD After 24 hours
%CBD After 5 days
%CBD after 8 days
%CBD After 30 days
%CBD After 60 days
We get the highest potency at around 20 days, after which it starts to degrade. Compare the values above with the QWET (One-day freezer method) underneath.
QWET (Quick Wash Extraction Tincture)
We are also subject to nature, so predicting precise values is impossible. Rest assured that we strive to extract the highest values.
Now proceed to Step 5: Extract most of the alcohol by evaporation. At R600,00 per liter, this is quite an expensive part of the process.
Step 6: Mix the remaining tincture with the desired flavor.
Step 7: Bottling, labeling, and packing.
Step 7 doesn't come easy!
Being an environmental champion, the founder was astounded to see the amount of empty Kleiner Keiler bottles that end up at landfills. He decided to rescue and repurpose them.
We now have to beg, borrow, and steal the empty babies since bar personnel are used to just binning them. Old habits die hard. When we have a batch of about 500, we follow the routine below:
Step 1: Soak them in water for about a week to soften the labels, until most can be rubbed off
Step 2: Visual inspection and sorting
Step 3: Remove the seal ring with a side cutter
Step 4: Clean as much as possible, including the neck with a small brush
Step 5: Insert some cleaning balls and shake vigorously
Step 6: Pack bottles in a large pot with salted water and bring to a boil to sanitize
Step 7: Pack into an ultrasonic cleaner and run for 2 minutes. Remove and let them dry naturally.
About the caps:
After many phone calls, emails, and delivery of unfit caps, the founder realized that the only place to find caps was China. This was a challenge on another scale. 18 X 9mm is not a very popular size, and it took much patience and cajoling to find the right supplier.
It took about three months to identify a possible supplier, but they have a MOQ of 100,000, so negotiations are still ongoing
Currently, out of necessity and to play it safe, we sanitize the old caps and reuse them too. When they pass the visual inspection we give them a coat of paint to hide the branding and when filled, seal the bottles with Tamper-Proof shrink tubes.
Then it is time for labeling, and the circle is completed
Compare our process with other manufacturers, and you will understand why we may appear more expensive.
The highest quality normally comes at a higher price, but don't be fooled. Considering the VALUE you get when you buy FireFlask, you actually SAVE money.
