Extreme wildfire events beyond any control are becoming a major environmental economic and social threat across the world.

FIRE-RES will develop an integrated fire management strategy to efficiently and effectively address extreme wildfires events in Europe.

The aim of WP2, of the FIRE-RES project, is to assess the capacity of novel practices, namely fire management models and adaptive management strategies (from WP1), to mitigate the impacts of EWE on forest ecosystems, and the provision of ESs. This will be achieved by developing and implementing innovative actions to design pre-fire (prevention and preparedness) and post fire (adaptation and restoration) landscape mosaics that are less prone to the occurrence of EWE and that can facilitate detection and suppression in case a EWE does occur.

This page compiles the knowledge generated throughout the WP2 and presents it in the form of guidelines and recommendations. It includes information on the data quality standards required to replicate the innovations developed during the project, as well as guidance for designing resilient landscapes.
