The SEA-Teacher Programme became one of the most meaningful milestones in my journey as a pre-service early childhood educator. Spending a month at National University and Nazareth School of National University in Manila allowed me to experience education beyond textbooks and classrooms. It challenged me to adapt to a new environment, communicate across cultures, and discover that meaningful learning happens when we are willing to embrace differences with an open mind.

One of the most unforgettable experiences was teaching Grade 4 Physical Education, despite my academic background in Early Childhood Education. This opportunity pushed me beyond my comfort zone and strengthened my confidence as a future educator. Through classroom observations, I also gained valuable insights into the implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum, student-centered learning approaches, positive reinforcement, and classroom environments that encourage every learner to actively participate. Another inspiring moment was witnessing the Moving Up Ceremony, where every child received recognition based on their unique strengths and achievements. This experience reminded me that every learner deserves appreciation, reflecting the philosophy that every child possesses different forms of intelligence and potential.

Beyond developing my teaching competencies, this journey reshaped the way I view education. I learned that being an educator is not only about delivering lessons, but also about creating meaningful learning experiences, respecting diversity, building positive relationships, and continuously growing through reflection and collaboration. Every conversation with my cooperating teacher, student buddy, lecturers, classmates, and students became a valuable lesson that extended far beyond academic knowledge.

This experience also contributed to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supported SDG 4: Quality Education by providing authentic international teaching practice, classroom observation, and academic collaboration that strengthened my professional competencies as a future teacher. The programme reflected SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by equipping pre-service teachers with practical skills, global perspectives, adaptability, and professional experience needed for future careers in education. Through cultural exchange, inclusive learning environments, and meaningful interactions with people from different backgrounds, this programme contributed to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, promoting mutual respect and equal learning opportunities across cultures. Most importantly, it embodied SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the strong collaboration between Universitas Negeri Jakarta, SEAMEO, National University, and Nazareth School of National University in creating meaningful international educational opportunities.

To future SEA-Teacher participants, embrace every opportunity with curiosity and courage. There will be moments that challenge you, surprise you, and even make you question your abilities—but those moments will become your greatest teachers. Be willing to learn from every classroom, every culture, every conversation, and every person you meet. At the end of the programme, you will realize that SEA-Teacher is far more than an international exchange. It is a journey that shapes not only the educator you aspire to become, but also the person you are growing into.
