Lighting: Make sure your project is well lit! Take a picture of it outside in the day if you don't have good lighting inside.
Focus: Use a tripod or something to hold up your camera/phone so it doesn't move while you are taking your picture
Background: Make sure your background is neutral, preferable white with nothing else in the frame
Cropping: crop your image so you can't see anything in the background
Editing: Fix the color and lighting on your photo. If the photo has a blue or orange tint, change it!
Tip for 2D work: Scan it! Many at home printers have a scanner!
Editing a photo in the Lightroom App
Editing a piece of art in the Adobe Lightroom app can greatly enhance its quality and appearance. Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to edit a photo using the Lightroom app on your mobile device. Please note that the app's interface may evolve, so some of the details might vary slightly.
Step 1: Install and Open the Lightroom App

Tap on "Color" to adjust temperature, tint, vibrance, and saturation.
Step 6: Detail Enhancements
You can enhance the sharpness, noise reduction, and clarity of your art piece under the "Detail" tab.
Step 7: Effects
Use the "Effects" tab to add vignettes or adjust dehaze for special effects.
Step 8: Presets (Optional)
Lightroom offers various presets that can quickly apply a specific look or style to your photo. You can explore and apply these under the "Presets" tab.
Step 9: Lens Corrections (Optional)
If your art piece has any lens distortion or chromatic aberration, you can correct it in the "Optics" and "Geometry" tabs.
Step 10: Local Adjustments (Optional)
Use the "Brush" or "Gradient" tools to make selective adjustments to specific areas of your art piece.
Step 11: Before and After
To compare your edits with the original, you can tap and hold on the image to see the "Before" and "After" views.
Step 12: Export or Save
Once you're satisfied with your edits, tap the checkmark or "Done" to save your changes.
You can then export your edited art piece to your device or share it on social media directly from the app.
Remember that editing is subjective, and the adjustments you make should enhance the artistic qualities of your piece according to your vision. Experiment with different settings and techniques to achieve the desired result. Lightroom offers a wide range of tools to help you achieve professional-level edits for your art.
