I am in my senior year at High Point University studying to achieve a B.S. in Psychology, as well as a B.A. in Music (Instrumental Studies). With interests in both of these diverse fields, I hope to pursue a career in Music Therapy/ Music Education. This academic year, I will be conducting my very own music therapy research, specializing in psychological benefits from drumming. I currently work as a special education teacher at Developmental Disabilities Institute in Long Island, with a NYS Teaching Assistant license.
Within High Point University's Music Department, I am studying for a Bachelors degree in Music. Music has been my stress reliever, my creative outlet, and my life since I was around four years old. Over the years, I've learned how to play multiple instruments, such as violin, piano, double bass, guitar, and vocals. Performing with the High Point University Community Orchestra, I have had the opportunity to perform at the North Carolina Music Educators Association Conference (NCMEA). I am also very active in the HPU Percussion Ensemble, and have had amazing opportunities to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) and North Carolina Day of Percussion (NCDoP).
I am known to my fellow students as a jack of all trades, musically and artistically. My mission is to help people become their most creative selves because I believe that everyone is an artist at heart. If I do my job right, self-expression will become less of an act of bravery, and more an act of joy.
