In world full of
Busy…
Go…
You Must Do More…
... it can be dreadfully hard to find stillness and rest. And yet it is so clearly what God desires for us. We see it over and over again throughout scripture…
Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. (Psalm 62:1)
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. (Psalm 62:5)
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength… (Isaiah 30:15)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16 NIV)
God desires for us to find rest in Him.
That is the vision for this evening of Stillness. It is a retreat in the midst of the busyness. Unfortunately, it isn’t always possible for us as women...full-time students, moms, professionals, caretakers...to find an entire weekend to step away from our Ordinary for a retreat with our Savior.
But we can find a couple of hours for an evening with Him.
This is what Stillness is all about.
It’s about setting aside an evening to meet with Jesus.
Women have come to these evenings with a myriad of beautiful motives and goals…
They are just so tired and need a deep breath away from It All.
They feel like their time with Jesus has become “optional” or even “non-existent”, and they want to reset.
They come with a burning question and spend the evening seeking truth.
They want uninterrupted time with Jesus.
They are seeking Stillness.
This site is our humble explanation and outline of our attempt to create a space for Stillness - an evening retreat. My prayer is that this provides ideas and a springboard for you to create your own evening of Stillness for the women around you. Use everything...modify at will...discard anything that doesn’t suit your group.
My only request is that you share any and all changes and additions. We need your brilliance and ideas to make our Evening of Stillness even better.
All changes and additions can be shared with/emailed to laurenwaymire@gmail.com. Please include your name, where you are in the world, and pictures, if possible. Thank you in advance for blessing us all with your creativity!
And with that...I am privileged to welcome you to our evening of Stillness.
