Install FF7 Using ISO’s

Step 1

There are a number of reasons as to why I would suggest backing up your Final Fantasy 7 PC CD’s (if you have them). If one of your CD’s get scratched, then you will no longer be able to play the game since the game needs the Final Fantasy 7 PC CD’s to work. Note that it is not illegal to make backups of your CD’s, in fact, in most EULA’s it will say you are permitted to make backups. First and foremost, you have to download ISO software. Always make sure you download the appropriate version for your Operating System else you will end up with the BSOD (blue screen of death) this happened to me when using the wrong version of Daemon Tools. I currently use the following programs to make back-ups. I currently use UltraISO and CloneCD. These work best. But for the sake of this tutorial, I will use UltraISO. So download and install UltraISO, and run the program. At the bottom of a screen, under Local you will see that your disk is there, click on the appropriate drive that your disk is in and copy the contents from the bottom right window to the top right window.

Step 2:

Now, click on File > New >Data CD/DVD Image (you must do this for each disc). Make sure you label each file correctly; otherwise it will cause you problems later on (e.g. Final Fantasy 7 PC ISO Install Disk, FF7PC Disk 1, etc). (Note: I’m using random files from a random CD, I’m not actually copying the right CD so ignore the files you see in the folder). Now Click on Save (make sure the file extension is .iso) and UltraISO will create an ISO file from your Final Fantasy 7 PC CD. Do this for each CD and you’re all set.

Step 3:

Once you’re done with creating all the files, go to Tools > Mount to Virtual Drive. Browse the location of the Final Fantasy 7 PC Installation CD ISO you created and click on the file. Once you’re done click on the Mount button. Now, click on the button which looks like a magnifying glass which is on the right side of where it says Drive X: – Loaded. It should run the autorun file and you are set to install.

Step 4:

Once it has installed, go back to UltraISO, and go to Tools>Mount to Virtual Drive. Once the pop-up box opens, click on UNMOUNT. It should say Ejected once you’ve done this. Click on browse and select the next Disk (i.e. Final Fantasy 7 PC Disk 1 not the install disk). Click Mount. Once it says “loaded” you’re all set. Launch the Game and you’re ready to play.

Step 5:

Once you’re at the end of a disc, the game will ask you to insert the next disk. In this case, alt + tab out of Final Fantasy 7 PC, run the UltraISO program and go to Tools > Mount to Virtual Drive. Now click on Unmount. Once it says “Ejected” locate the next ISO CD, e.g. Final Fantasy 7 PC Disk 2, and click on mount. Now go back to Final Fantasy 7 PC and it should be working. If this is not clear enough, please watch the ISO tutorial vid.

Note: I cannot be held responsible for any damage or issues arising from creating ISO’s using UltraISO. UltraISO is a program that I selected but there are a number of programs you can use. It is at your sole discretion to decde whether you would like to use this tutorial. I cannot be held liable should there be any damage in anyway whatsoever, to the users CD’s, Hard Disk, or Computer, . This tutorial has been written solely to assist those who do not know how to use or install the game from ISO files.
