Comprised of around 70 individual cyanotype patches, Temple Veil takes its inspiration from the large sacred curtain which would separate the 'holiest of holies' from the rest of the temple in the ancient synagogue - a barrier between humanity and the Divine. Temple Veil is comprised of images taken in and around the local countryside - to create an all-encompassing collage. To experience the Divine, you need not be a high priest, you should just simply step outside.
Cyanotype Animation (2024)
As part of an ongoing exploration of rivers and their journeys, these cyanotype animations capture movement frame by frame. By using the river water from the location as a fixer after exposing the print to light, the printed image is intrinsically connected to the very body of water shown in each frame.
Illumination(2022)
Inspired by a line of research around notions of Eutierria, this installation draws upon the timeless rhythms of the sun and land. Two times a day, the sun, with its' deep bright glow pierces through the treeline and projects its' patterns. An ode to the timeless source of life - the only constant in our increasingly disconnected way of life.
Land Access Project (2023)
Created in response to a creative brief in which it was encouraged to create work around ideas of 'Placemaking', this zine and video focuses on our right to access our landscape. This coincided with local struggles regarding access on Dartmoor with landowners closing car parks and attempting to put an end to the invaluable experience of wild camping on the commons. The zine itself, comprised strictly of my own images from the surrounding area, not only includes information about the shortcomings of land access in England but also features advice on how to be respectful and stay safe in the countryside.
PSA (2022)
Conceptualised in the wake of the Covid pandemic and the seemingly constant stream of posters and infographics which surrounded the streets of Plymouth, PSA is an attempt at subverting the typically negative posters put out by the council - usually informing you of some sort of zone, some sort of fine you could receive or telling you to move on. By attempting to co-opt the visual language of the council, the work attempts to give the public a message that the council never would: just sit and simply be.
Photographic Experimentations (Ongoing)
An ongoing and vital part of my practice which I don't consistently share is my experimentation and documentation with 35mm film - through multi-lensed cameras, double exposures and strangely coloured emulsions. Never to be edited as they are simple impressions of the light. Often hand processed and scanned by myself - the stills act as a forerunner for my moving image work.
