Matt Trumfield is a South Devon filmmaker / artist whose work explores moving image and sound, often grounded in the natural world and our relationship to it. Deeply connected to the local landscapes of Devon and Cornwall, he draws on their shifting texture, weather and rhythms as both subject and collaborator.
Trumfield's ongoing analogue research, with a particular focus on 16mm film, shapes the core of his practice. He also works extensively with super 8 and 35mm, developing each format by hand, keeping the process grounded and intentional from start to finish.
His latest work, over land flow, traces the movement of water - its rhythms, silences and life - and speaks to the way things shift, carry and reshape us. Like much of his practice, it reflects a quiet dialogue between human experience and the natural elements that surround us.
