Dumangan was a kind and powerful sky god in ancient Filipino beliefs. People prayed to him for good harvests, especially for rice. He was married to Idianale, the goddess of labor, and together they had two children: Anitun Tabu, the goddess of wind and rain, and Dumakulem, the guardian of mountains. In some stories, Dumangan was seen as the reason why crops grew well, making him a very important god for farmers.Â
