What started as a simple vision by a handful of people 40 years ago is now an astounding reality, a very successful endeavor and worthy of emulation! The Filipino Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc. has grown immensely and has been consistently active in several undertakings like :
1) Service to the community through various projects and civic action programs.
2) Scholarship grants to deserving dental students
3) Upliftment of the dental profession by providing continuing dental programs.
The strength of the organization lies not in the leaders but more so to each and every individual that makes up the group.

MISSION
The foundation’s noble mission is to shine in excellence in giving its selfless effort to improve the quality of life of those in need of our service. FCDFI also aims to form highly creative, competent and morally upright dentists with a strong commitment to serve and contribute to the attainment of a just, humane and progressive society.
OBJECTIVES
To promote the advancement of the dental profession in the various fields of human endeavors.
To advocate dental legislation and education in order to maintain the high standard of dental profession at all levels.
To achieve closely the provisions of the Regulatory Code of Dental Practice in the Philippines, as provided for by the Professional Regulation Commission.
To harmonize the activities with all allied professions in order to work effectively in promoting the well-being of the public.
To carry out a concerted public health education programs to inculcate to the people the importance of good oral hygiene and the concept of the prevention of oral diseases.
GOALS
Promotion and establishment of volunteer activities and its contribution to national development through oral health education and dental treatment.
Motivate members to get involved in the socio-civic activities.
1978 - A group of young dynamic, hardworking, and civic-minded dental students from the University of the East were meeting regularly. From their deep passion and vision, had conceived and shaped the future Foundation.
1980 - Around 12 young dentists met at a Chinese restaurant in Ongpin to draft and organize a dental society to be known as the Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc.
1981 - The Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc. celebrated its 1st Annual Convention. This was held at the Century Park Hotel in Manila.
1983 - FCDFI was finally recognized as an affiliate society of the Philippine Dental Association from which membership steadily swelled in number.
1984 - Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc. then presented exemplary continuing education programs and actively participated in all PDA activities.
1986 - The scholarship program was formed. This project became one of the hallmarks and the “crowning glory” of FCDFI. The main goal of which was to help deserving indigent dental students.
1987 - FCDFI amassed recognitions especially in the PDA bowling tournament.
1988 - FCDFI won awards in the PDA’s Healthy Smile Contest and Sports Fest.
1990 - The maiden issue of the FCDFI newsletter, the forerunner of the Primer, was released. It was also the year when the hard plastic ID cards were first issued to the members.
1991 - The official FCDFI pin was given to officers and as an incentive was also given to the members who completed the seminars of Fil-Chi. During its annual convention, an unprecedented influx of delegates attended the convention and the hotel had to set up additional tables in the foyer area.
1992 - It was noted to have invited Senator Joseph Estrada.
1993 - The Foundation received the first Most Outstanding Affiliate President award from PDA.
1994 - The Foundation bagged the championship in the PDA bowling tournament for the nth time, which proves that Fil-Chi was “the team to beat”. Again, the Best Affiliate Award was received from PDA.
1995 - The program on health education started. The Association instigated the recognition of the affiliate societies, including Fil-Chi, in the House of Delegates, the legislative body of the PDA.
1996 - The Foundation organized a movie premiere wherein the proceeds went to FCDFI Mission Fund and an allocation was provided for the Building and Welfare Trust, the “brainchild projects” for the year. It was also the year wherein the FCDFI President and Board of Directors paid a courtesy call to the Republic of the Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos and he lauded the efforts of the Foundation.
1997 - The Civic Action Team was recognized as a more visible group of Fil-Chi and the association received a Meritorious Award from the PDA.
1998 - A Wet Clinic on Apicoectomy was performed during the Annual Convention, it was feed-in and viewed on wide screen. FCDFI won the Most Outstanding Award during PDA’s Awards Night.
1999 - Emphasis was given on the importance of oral health education by conducting lectures on Preventive Dentistry to private and public elementary schools and some private offices. The Foundation made a significant endeavor in the protection of the environment by way of tree planting at Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila. Awards received from PDA are the Most Outstanding Affiliate Chapter and the Most Outstanding Affiliate President.
2000 - The Welfare and Trust Fund for the active and life members of the FCDFI was implemented. Awards received from PDA are the Most Outstanding Affiliate Chapter and the Most Outstanding Affiliate President.
2001 - Received the First Runner-up in the Most Outstanding Affiliate Chapter Award from PDA.
2002 - Received the Most Outstanding Affiliate Society Runner-up from PDA.
2003 - The Foundation embarked on an Oral Health Education Program for Pre-schools around Metro Manila. Awards received from PDA are the Most Outstanding Affiliate Chapter and the Most Outstanding Affiliate President.
2004 - FCDFI was able to come up with Book-Giving and Anti-hepatitis B Vaccination from PDA.
2005 - First in the history to form a sisterhood agreement with another association, Philippine Academy of General Dentistry (PAGD) through the project of PDA Sisterhood Program. Joint projects include Christmas Gift Giving, Feeding Program, and Special Seminar. Received the following awards: 1st Place On-the-Spot Category Poster Making Contest, PDA Merit Award 2005-2006, 1st Place PDA Ladies Billiard Tournament, 1st Runner-up Over-all Standing PDA Bowling Tournament, 1st Place in the PDA Badminton Tournament Level E Women’s Division, Champions in the PDA Badminton Tournament Level B Women’s Division, PDA Most Outstanding Affiliate and PDA Most Outstanding Affiliate President.
2006 - The very first out of the country seminar, “Singapore Special Seminar”, was organized. The first inter-island dental mission was introduced, pioneering the sisterhood program with Cebu Dental Society. It was also a very momentous year, coveting the PDA’s most prestigious awards: Most Outstanding Affiliate President, Most Outstanding Affiliate Society, Achievement Awards Dental College Scholarship Program, Best Report Presentation Award, and placing third on the On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest of PDA.
2007 - Breakthrough in Community Service: Environmental Cleanliness & Preservation Awareness Campaign: Basura Monster, Door to Door Garbage Collection, and Proper Waste Disposal of needles. Building of Dental Care Billboard, Kanawan, Morong Bataan Medical & Dental Mission Journey and Operation: Lipping Up. Innovation in 27th Annual Convention: Simultaneous 8 Lectures with various topics held in Manila Hotel. A Collide of Triumphs: Placing 2nd Runner-up and Best in Talent “KIDDIE WOW Smile Contest”, First in Billiard Ladies Division, First in Mixed Doubles Badminton Category Level D, Over-all Champion on On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest, making it the Official Billboard of the 5th National Dental Health 2009 and PDA’s most prestigious awards: Most Outstanding Affiliate President, Most Outstanding Affiliate Society, Outstanding in Community Service, Presidential Distinction Award.
2008 - Longest term (1 & 1/2 years) due to changes on PDA fiscal year to calendar year. “Libreng Pustiso Project” in Bulacan & Binondo were accomplished; non-stop out of town Community Dental Outreach Program were made for the indigent people. Awards gathered were: Most Outstanding Affiliate Group Alay Parada 5.0 NDHM, 1st Place & Best in Talent Healthy Kid Smile. In sports, the Foundation bagged the Over-all Team Championship in Bowling tournament, 3rd Place PDA Ladies Billiard Tournament, Champion of the PDA Badminton Tournament Mixed Level A & B Women Division, 2nd Place Mixed Level C, Champion Ladies Double Level B, 2nd Place Ladies Double Level A, Champion Men’s Double Level B. Received from PDA: Most Outstanding Affiliate President, Most Outstanding Affiliate Society, Special Awards for Exemplary Implementation of Scholarship Program and Achievement Awards Community Service.
2010 - True to its theme, “Bringing New Trends to the Forefront of Dentistry”, the official FCDFI website, www.filchidental.com was launched together with its Facebook page “Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc.” First time in FCDFI history to successfully launch “Fashion for Smile”, a campaign which rendered extensive cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries with complete speech and mouth rehabilitation to 24 young children, in cooperation with Mossimo Phils., Mossimo Kids and Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation, Inc. Another outstanding project is the “Give Back the Smile,” in cooperation with Children International Abot Kamay, Inc. which benefitted 61 patients with free full and partial dentures. It is also a first in FCDFI history to support various dental chapters by giving 1300 pieces of imported hardbound books for the chapter’s distribution to their area of locality. Awards received from PDA: “Runner-Up Most Outstanding PDA Affiliate” and “Runner-Up Most Outstanding PDA Affiliate President.” During the 6th National Dental Health Month, FCDFI was awarded “Most Attractive Affiliate” for Alay Parada and “Most Original Sound Variation” for Street Dancing. “Over-All Champion” for Mr. Healthy Smile Contest,” “First Place NCR and Third Place National Level” for On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest. For PDA Sports Activities, FCDFI team gathered several awards to include “Over-All Team Champion in Bowling,” and "Champion Team Event."
2011 - The achievement of one goal begets another goal. FCDFI in its 30th year of service to the society generously created more projects in the year 2011. “A PRIVILEGE CARD” benefitting members was launched for the purposes of availing discounts from our partners in dental and non-dental companies. Unbroken projects are the community outreach programs helping 174 Barangays, 5000 of which is a populace of the less fortunate, reaching ethnic groups and our brethren at the Bureau of Jail Management Penology in San Pablo City; 12 recipients for “Show me your Smile” libreng pustiso, and more than 1000 books donated to various elementary schools. In all projects, oral health education was prioritized. To name our impressive achievements: In Feb 2011: National Dental Health Month- Most Punctual Dental Affiliate; And Highest number in Attendance for Dental Affiliate; Poster Making Contest Overall Champion- Affiliate Division. In May 2011, 2nd place PDA Bowling Tournament and Overall Champion. In November 2011: First runner up- PDA MTV Contest. The most prestigious and memorable awards received are: “Most Outstanding PDA Affiliate- General Affiliate Division” and “Most Outstanding PDA Affiliate President- General Affiliate Division”.
2012 - 2013 - Extended term (1 & 1/2 years) following changes in PDA calendar. First time ever to have launched the FCDFI Membership ID as a discount privilege card. It has been noted to have the most number of active members to date. The awarding of Medallion of Leadership to each of all the Thirty (30) FCDFI Past Presidents highlighted the 31st President’s Night held in Manila Hotel. A Special Seminar with the sub-theme: “It’s More Fun with Fil-Chi!” was organized like a mini convention. Guided by the year’s theme: “Commitment in Service Geared Towards its Best”, FCDFI had undertaken numerous dental service projects among which was dubbed as the “F-ree C-omfortable D-entures F-ashionably I-nstalled” with beneficiaries from GUESS fashion industry. FCDFI also initiated non-dental charity-related activities such as the “Wish Mo, Sagot Ko!”, “Grand Christmas Gift-Giving for the MMDA Traffic Constables”, “Give Love to Lolo & Lola!”, “Tikoy-Giving”, and an Environmental Awareness Program, the “Linis Along the Riles”. Awarded by PDA as the Most Outstanding Affiliate First Runner-Up for General Affiliate and First Runner-Up for Most Outstanding Affiliate President. A recipient of a Presidential Award and a Special Award for Best in Community Service also from PDA. FCDFI won the Early Bird Award and the First Runner-Up for the Best in Theme both for the Affiliates’ level during the 2013 National Dental Health Month Celebration. FCDFI Sports team reaped several individual and team awards including the Billiard’s Hall of Fame, the Over-all Champion in the PDA National Bowling Tournament and the Champion for the Team Event. One notable outstanding Professional Recognition received was during the radio guesting of President Carolyn G. Torres-Basa for “Heard on Thursdays” show on July 5, 2012 in Monster Radio RX 93.1 with the topic: “Who’s Afraid of the Dentists? ”.
2013 - Being true to its theme “Making Difference in this Fast Paced World”, FCDFI embarked one which not one chapter nor affiliate had done, to start awareness on animal welfare. Joined the Animal Welfare March at Quezon City Memorial Circle and the 6-Legged Run at Mall of Asia. Another most significant is making the long planned Basic Life Support Seminar- aptly titled” Hey, Hey , Hey! Are you OK?” which was conducted by certified American Heart Association instructors who are also emergency medical practitioners. Bagging the Outstanding Affiliate society Award, Meritorious Achievement Award and Exemplary Achievement in Community Service for Manila Chinatown Charity clinic.
2014 - With the Theme “Working Together to make things Happen”, FCDFI has partnered/twinned with 3 dental chapter/affiliates namely Mandaluyong Dental Chapter, Novaliches Dental Professional, Inc and Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao Duathlon (2km run, 4km Bike, 2km run) tournament and bagged 2nd place (girl-boy-boy category). Filchi’s bowling and Badminton team continued their mastery of the sport by garnering major/championship awards during the PDA tournament. During the 11th NDHM, Filchi’s Dr. Aldrich Guiang joined the photo contest and got 3rd and 4th place in the black and white category during the ON-the-Spot Poster making Contest, Ms. Jamia Mae Tolentino got 2nd place. Aside from the usual Annual Convention & 3 quarterly seminars, FCDFI conducted 2 more special seminars (Clear Aligners and Recycling Seminar). During the PDA awards Night, FCDFI got the President Merit awards, Best Implementor (Affiliate) of “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Ko”, Best in Report Presentation (paperless), Runner-up Outstanding Affiliate & Runner-up Outstanding Affiliate President.
2015 - Inspired by the year’s theme: “Growth in Dentistry Towards Professional Excellence”, Special seminars namely Origin Point Therapy; Troubleshooting of Complete Dentures; and Recycling and Garbage Enzyme Workshop for its members had been conducted. First to have carried out Operation Restore, Revamp, Refurbish: Dental Chairs which had been donated to church and Public Schools. A fund Raising project “ I Can” had been launched where the generous contributions of its members thru coin banks aided to fund Tzu Chi Foundation’s charitable missions. Free Denture projects like “Pustiso Mo, Sagot Ko” where 100 patients had been served and Charitable works like Great Love on Christmas which benefitted 200 indigent families in Rosario, Cavite had been emphasized. With focus on environment awareness and social concerns, activities in line with Save the Earth, Save Life and Let’s Go Recycling had also been conducted and thus FCDFI prides itself for being awarded as “Outstanding Affiliate for Environmental Projects”, “Most Outstanding Affiliate” and Outstanding Affiliate President Runner-Up”
2016-2017 - DEPED Essential Health Care Package for Filipino Children includes WASHaLOT fit for School Program was implemented and installed for proper handwashing and toothbrushing to the pre-school children of Carmen Elementary School, Brgy. Carmen, Cavite City thru the help of Novaliches Dental Professionals Inc., one of FILCHI’s twin Affiliates. Another Twin chapter of FILCHI with the same program was the Manila Dental Chapter wherein the recipients were students from PUP Daycare Center, Manila. During the 13th National Dental Health Month, FILCHI got the best in Costume & Runner-up for the MOM & ME Healthy Smile Contest. FILCHI was also awarded as one of the 10 National Awardee of PDA Seal of Excellence Participation Involvement. Not to mention the President Recognition.
2017-2018 - CPD Law led to the influx of new members, we couldn’t help but reduce the number of delegates to ensure their safety and comfort in learning. This was the year we had renewed our BIR and SEC documents. We were Runner up in “Ngiting Henyo 2017. We got the most coveted award of NDHM, the MOM and ME contest as we emerged CHAMPION. We are still the undefeated CHAMPION in the sports of Badminton. The Launching of Zero Cavity, a 2-year community outreach program made us a semi-finalist in the Serbisyong Pinoy Award. We were the only Affiliate in one of the eight recipients of Excellence for the Participation and Involvement.
2018-2019 - Worthwhile program undertaken for this year was the collaboration with Pearl S. Buck Foundation whose Beneficiaries are the children of American Servicemen left by their military parents. We were able to finish the target number of 300 children for this year in 3 areas- Pampanga, Olongapo and Bulacan. Forged a partnership with the Philippine Air Force Dental Service. This year we also witnessed the FCDFI strong support to our National Organization- the Philippine Dental Association, in the celebration of the National Dental Health Month. We participated in the NDHM activities, FCDFI entry in Ngiting Henyo Contest got the 2 nd Runner-up place and in Little Ms. PDA Contest got a special award for Ms. Photogenic.
