The loss of the bone structure due to periodontal disease surrounding the teeth or the extraction of teeth poses a dilemma for the future rehabilitation of the oral cavity. This lecture will give an overview of past and current techniques, biomaterials, and procedures through an evidence-based discussion. Presentation of clinical cases will enhance the understanding of this subject.
