Heather Rose is a ceramic artist based in South Devon, whose work reflects her eclectic interests.
Her subjects are often developed as responses to her lived experience and can act as a focus for and a comment upon her reflections on these events.
Her projects, among others, have included pieces in response to her time spent in India, which proved seminal in her artistic development; work inspired by the Grenfell disaster following a pilgrimage to the tower and it’s surrounds, and latterly the creation of pieces illustrating her reactions to contemporary military conflicts including the war in Ukraine.
At the same time Heather’s reflections on family life and relationships have generated the creation of pieces that comment upon the more personal and particular concerns of a feminist artist navigating the complexities of contemporary life.
My late father-in-law introduced me to a book called the Jovial Ghosts, inspiring me to create these ceramic couples; a celebration of enduring connection and relationships.
