School Site Council

Welcome

The School Site Council (SSC) of Eugene Field Elementary School consists of six staff representatives and six parent representatives each serving two-year terms. The Council meets monthly to develop and monitor the implementation of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The Council also allocates Supplemental site funds received from the state as well as Annual Fund donations.

Members of the Field community are encouraged to attend SSC meetings to share their ideas or concerns during the public comment period. Those who are unable to attend are welcome to submit public comment online in advance of the meeting.

The California education system is complicated! Thankfully, there is an excellent resource that can help prepare you to make a difference in your school or school district.

Ed100 is a free, self-paced online course that "helps you learn what you need to know to be informed, credible, and ready for action." Whether you've wondered what a Local Control Accountability Plan is or want to better understand the Local Control Funding Formula, Ed100 has a short lesson for you. Three Organizations, Three Unique Roles

The Field School Site Council (SSC) is one of three main groups working together to support our school.

  • The Field Parent Teacher Association (PTA) sponsors events that foster community building, supplement educational opportunities, and promote cultural celebration. The PTA also funds campus improvement, field trips, and classroom resources for all teachers.

  • Since the PTA cannot use funds for school staffing, the Field Annual Fund (AF) raises money to pay for critical positions such as our Mandarin instructional aides, librarian, and school counselor. This past year, AF donations also supported a Mandarin curriculum specialist as well as a Mandarin after-school intervention program. For more info, see the 2019-20 Field Annual Fund FAQ. The Annual Fund is officially under the Pasadena Educational Foundation.

  • The Field School Site Council (SSC) develops and monitors the implementation of the School Plan for Student Achievement and allocates the money raised by Annual Fund (along with a small amount of state Supplemental funding).
