VIRTUAL TOWN HALL Open For ALL Our Community January 6, 2026 at 7pm
While the Board of Education sets school boundaries, County Council members control funding, transportation, and long-term planning for school buildings and infrastructure. Their support matters because these decisions affect where schools are built, how they are used, and whether students can attend schools close to their communities. The role of the county council here will be to approve/modify the superintendent's recommendation in February 2026. Getting them ahead and aware of the issues at hand before its introduced to them much farther down the line in the process.

Dear County Council Member _________,
I am writing as a Gaithersburg resident to ask for your support in keeping Gaithersburg students, especially those from the Fields Road Elementary School community, assigned to Crown High School.
Crown High School is located in the Fields Road community and was built to serve nearby Gaithersburg neighborhoods. Keeping local students at Crown High School makes sense. It allows many students to travel shorter distances, reduces traffic and busing needs, and helps families stay connected to their neighborhood school.
This choice also uses county funding more wisely. Assigning Fields Road students to Crown High School reduces the need for extra bus routes and helps prevent overcrowding at other high schools. It allows Crown High School to open as a full, permanent school and makes good use of the county’s investment.
Some current boundary proposals would send Gaithersburg students to high schools outside their community that are already crowded. This puts more strain on buildings, roads, and public resources and does not make long term sense for Gaithersburg.
I respectfully ask that you support a boundary decision that keeps the Fields Road community together, keeps Gaithersburg students in Gaithersburg, and assigns those students to Crown High School permanently.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
