Basic rules

Your entry must happen in this universe, in the year 2022. There is no science-fiction technology and no aliens. Your story must be plausible and not contradict existing papers or known data. You can refer to existing papers to support your claims, and include a bibliography if you wish.

By participating to this contest, you are licensing your work under cc by. This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.

Judging Criteria

Positive points

These are not mandatory but will impress the judges. The entry will be ranked favorably if it...

  1. Casts reasonable doubt on established knowledge

  2. Integrates real world information from existing experiments, published papers, real newspaper entries, etc

  3. Proposes testable hypotheses

  4. Contains realistic experimental protocols

  5. Cannot be disproved on the spot

Negative points

Entries will be disqualified if they...

  1. Contain supernatural elements

  2. Invalidate existing data without explanation

  3. Ignore context from the prompt


The entry must be in english, but the grammar or writing style of the entry will not be taken into account when judging. We value ideas above how well you speak english, provided that the contents is understandable.


Submission

Submit your entry to fiction.for.science@gmail.com

The entry must contain 2 separate PDF files. In one file named "contact_[title of your entry].pdf", include the title of your entry, your name(s) (or pseudonyme), and an email address at which to contact you. In the other file, maximum 3 pages in Times New Roman 12pt, named "entry_[title of your entry].pdf", include your entry's text but no name or other identifying information.
