WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) PROGRAM?

Life in the 21st century places many demands on students as they move through adolescence. They are at a crucial period of personal, social, physical, and intellectual development. The Franklin High School Middle Years IB Program is designed to help them find a sense of belonging in this ever-changing world around them and help to foster a positive attitude to learning.
IB MYP is for students aged 11 to 16 (grades 6-10), provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world as well as becoming critical and reflective thinkers.
The Franklin High School Diploma Program is designed to prepare students to live in an inter connected and globalized world and this is done by developing the whole student - physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.
The Diploma Program is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19 (grades 11 and 12), for success at university and life beyond. It has an academic repucation for it rigorous assessment and global standards, by incorporating critial-thinking skills and a sense of international-mindedness.
We want to welcome you to Franklin High School's International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The IB at Franklin consists of two programs, the Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6 through 10, and the Diploma Program (DP) for grades 11 and 12. Our programs offer an opportunity for students to not only be involved in a rigorous academic program, but it is also a way for students to develop into well-rounded, internationally-minded people that both colleges and careers are looking to recruit.
Our goal is to make this opportunity a positive growth experience and our staff is committed to supporting your students and they develop as learners and as informed members of society. The challenges of this past year have shown how resilient and creative both our students and staff can be when presented with challenges we are very proud of them.
The Franklin High School IB program offers students the unique opportunity to receive a quality, private-school education in a neighborhood, public school while providing students the well-rounded school experience they need.
