Who is a part of the the "Coalition"?

It's not a set group of people; the title "Housing Coalition" refers to the collective actions of many different bodies. Any students, faculty, & staff, involved in meeting housing needs for our community is a part of the movement! There is involvement from:

  • VIDA (De Anza)
  • De Anza Renters' Rights Campaign (De Anza)
  • DASB (De Anza)
  • FA-PAC (Foothill and De Anza)
  • ASFC (Foothill)
  • Social Justice Project (Foothill)

Our goals fall into 3 categories:

1. Within Foothill-De Anza now -- improving infrastructure to connect students with resources, building community partnerships, making emergency funds accessible for immediate relief, etc.

2. Within Foothill-De Anza in the long term -- laying the groundwork for housing, basic needs, and decision-making infrastructure that is consistently, humanely responsive to (and perhaps preemptive of) student and workforce needs. For example, engagement around Flint Center, bond allocations for basic needs.

3. Advocacy beyond our district -- working with city councils for renters' protections, safe lots, basic needs services and support for affordable housing; partnering with other districts to share ideas and resources; collaborating with state legislators to create and promote relevant state legislation.
