Coach Marcus Roche
HEAD BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL COACH

Coach Roche is starting his 3rd year as the head coach at FGHS. The Vikings finished with a 20-27 in his first 2 years as head coach at FGHS. Prior to coming to Forest Grove, he coached the Banks Braves to 4 leagues titles, including a 4A State Championship in 2019. Prior to coaching at Banks, Roche was the head varsity boys coach at Gaston High School for 3 years, leading the Greyhounds to 2 league titles. Before Gaston he was an assistant coach at Forest Grove High School for 4 years under coaches Doug Hofmeister and Greg Evers. Roche played college basketball at Wenatchee Valley College and Pacific University from 2001-2005. He played his high school ball at Cascade High School in his hometown of Leavenworth, WA. Coach Roche's wife, Lisa, currently coaches for the FGHS girls tennis program. They have 3 young boys who are aspiring future Vikings.
Coach Jay Mercer
ASSISTANT VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL COACH
This will be Coach Mercer's 6th year with the Viking Boys basketball team. and his 11th year coaching overall. He spent four years as a college assistant and is now entering his 6th year at the high school level. He spent a year during the shortened pandemic season to coach his alma mater Cleveland HS. He was part of a staff at Indiana Wesleyan University that won the NAIA National Championship in 2016 and also helped Forest Grove to win 19 games in the 2019-20 season under Viking legend Greg Evers. Prior to starting his coaching career, he played basketball at Clark CC and Greenville College. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 2005.
Coach Zach Milton
JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL COACH
Coach Milton is beginning his 5th year coaching at FGHS. Prior to coaching at the high school level, he coached for 7 years in the Forest Grove youth sports programs (football, basketball & baseball). Milton played baseball at Linn Benton CC for 2 years in 99’-2000. He played baseball, basketball, and football right here at FGHS. GO VIKS!!
Coach Jeremy McDaniel
ASSITANT BOYS BASKETBALL COACH
Coach McDaniel is entering his first year back at FGHS after spending the last 10 years coaching in our youth program in Forest Grove and 1 year as a Varsity Assistant Coach at FGHS prior to that. Coach McDaniel played football, baseball, and basketball for Forest Grove High School, graduating in 2003. Coach McDaniel also coaches his 8 and 6 year old daughters in softball, basketball, and occasionally assisting his wife, Liz McDaniel, coaching their 6 year old in soccer.
