Welcome to the Fairfax Fletcher Youth Basketball Website!

Practices and game schedules for the 2019/2020 season will not come out until a few weeks after registration closes on October 12th. Once teams are made, coaches will notify parents.

See the registration tab for more information!

Start Dates:

3rd/4th grade Boys: Week of Nov. 18th

3rd/4th grade Girls: Week of Nov. 18th

5th/6th grade Girls: Week of Nov. 11th

Practice and game schedules for all age groups are available under your group's link in the "calendars" tab above. Please check frequently, as games are continuously being added (and subtracted) as we go along. Coaches should keep you informed through the One Call, but always good to check.

For any questions, please either contact your coach directly, or use the ffybballvt@gmail.com address

Information about each level is in the "Our Program" tab above. You will find all of our league information, objectives, rules and coach information.

**Anyone interested in helping with a team, or volunteering to help with fundraising events, please contact us. **

This program CAN NOT function without the help from parents and guardians. Thank you all who have helped in the past, or have volunteered to help again this year. Basketball expertise is NOT required!

For all the age groups, our goal is to try and create teams as equal as possible. We may have some larger group sessions at the beginning of the season to assess players if necessary.

Just a reminder, please remember the importance of keeping the gym floors clean. As both the gyms we generally use are multi-purpose rooms at their respective schools, it is hard enough to keep them playable without the added grime from outside boots and shoes. At BFA, please leave your wet gear out in the lobby on the big entry rug. At Fletcher, leave them outside in the hall. Thanks!

The Young Athlete: A Sports Doctor's Complete Guide for Parents (Metzl& Shookhoff):

“…..kids who participate in organized sports do better in school, have better interpersonal skills, are more team oriented, and are generally healthier. Participation in sports provides opportunities for leadership and socialization, as well as the development of skills for handling success and failure. Moreover, when playing games, children learn how rules work. They see how groups need rules to keep order, that the individual must accept the rules for the good of the group, that rules entail a consideration of the rights of others. They also learn about competition, but within a restricted and safe system where the consequences of losing are minimized."
