Episode 2 from 2023 -
In a time where mental health and diversity needs a space for literacy, we are lucky and excited to have Adriana Camacho-Church, Delaware resident and from Columbia, as our bilingual guest author / story teller at Festival of Words.
https://sites.google.com/view/festivalofwords2025?usp=sharing
We apologize ahead for the rough time/ recording quality we had with the podcast, as this was a day we had a MAJOR run of people in and out of the library and no quiet room space to record and yet, we decided it was worth it to go for it.
https://riverside.fm/shared/exported-clip/7d850ccc964094921709
We urge you to not miss Ms. Adriana Camacho-Church at Festival of Words 2025 - you will NOT want to miss this mix of culture, identify, creativity, and beauty woven through her books of Spanish and English a HUGE treasure for our Festival of Words this year!
Ebony, WHS student, went the distance in asking in Spanish and English the wonderful mysteries behind Ms. Camacho-Church's writing.
Part of the ART (WE LOVE that Festival of Words is also referred to as the Festival of ART) of Festival of Words is how versatile our WHS students are willing to be AND are. Our scheduled student podcaster was unable to take the 10:00 AM slot we had with the Bridgeville Kiwanis (A HUGE AND VALUABLE SPONSOR OF FESTIVAL OF WORDS) and Emerson willingly sat in as a interviewer, NOT seeing or knowing anything about the questions to be asked previous. She came in cold and left burning with success during this podcast. She was STELLAR along with Kiwanian Mr. Gibbs.
https://riverside.fm/shared/exported-clip/0b49bad63f52b90e1779
She was able to conduct a VERY interesting look into how the Bridgeville Kiwanis, as well as Kiwanis all over the U.S. (and outside of the U.S.) impact our communities.
We loved the fact that we discovered how the Bridgeville Kiwanis impacted not only our local community, but supported Hawaii, as well as received a top award (in the top ten out of over 600 organizations internationally!)
These experiences present another side of what Festival of Words is, a chance to involve community sponsors with students, community members, organizations, authors, educators, and artists of all walks of life.
We love how Emerson was able to glean so much information in such a short amount of time, and KUDOS to Mr. Gibbs from Bridgeville Kiwanis for shedding so much light about how Kiwanis is a MAJOR contributor to the success of our community, and bringing so many motivating individuals to Festival of Words.
Thank you all around!
The Water Door won the Mom's Choice Gold Award in 2024. Teachers, librarians, and parents alike find this helpful and useful for sure!

“Adventurer’s Round Table: D&D Tips, Advice, and More"
Nataka "Knack" Whittle
Hail and well met to those who have signed up to this session! Whether this is the first time you've heard of D&D, or if you’re a veteran adventurer from days of old, we’re all here to talk roleplaying games. Though originally a short game was planned, this has changed due to time constraints and the unavailability of the original host. One way or another though, we shall strive on!
In this session, we’ll be re-treading basics as well as going over more advanced tips and tricks regarding TTRPGs, whether you’re running it or playing it. Your Game Master for this time will be Knack Whittle, a cartoonist and player/study-er of D&D for over a decade.
Their session on and representation of graphics will be amazing.
