I’ve always been driven by curiosity about nature and how living systems work, especially in remote and ever-changing places. Growing up in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth shaped not only my scientific interests, but also my love for exploration and time spent outdoors. I feel most at home walking long distances, observing wildlife, and learning directly from landscapes rather than from a desk.
When I travel, I look for adventure in natural places and prefer to stay long enough to really understand them, their ecosystems, cultures, and people. I enjoy engaging with local communities, making friends around the world, and learning through shared experiences. I’m proud of my Latin heritage and love being an ambassador of Ecuadorian culture, especially through food, cooking is one of my favourite ways to connect with people and tell stories about where I come from.
Photography is another way I explore the world. It slows me down, sharpens my attention, and helps me notice the small details, such as light, movement, behaviour, that often go unseen. Whether photographing birds, wild landscapes, or moments from fieldwork and travel, photography lets me combine observation, creativity, and storytelling, and share the beauty and fragility of nature beyond academic spaces.
