The FESA Spirit of Teaching Award (valued at $250) is presented to deserving teacher candidates who demonstrate an outstanding and profound commitment to the Faculty of Education’s Undergraduate Teacher Education Program and the overall teaching profession. This award celebrates students who truly embody the values of the teaching community.
Eligibility Criteria
The award is open to current students who meet all of the following requirements:
Be a current first-year or second-year teacher candidate in the University of Ottawa’s Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program (English Stream).
Must be in good academic standing.
Must demonstrate a strong, ongoing commitment to the teaching profession.
Current FESA Executive members are not eligible for this award.
How to Apply
Applicants are required to respond to each question in the following section. Your submission must successfully integrate all relevant experience including academic, professional placement, personal, etc.
Key Details
Recipients: A total of four winners will be selected - two from Year 1 and two from Year 2.
Presentation: Winners will be formally honoured at the Year-End Gala.
Application Deadline: The deadline for all submissions is February 2, 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
The FESA Dean Selected Award (valued at $500) recognizes and rewards two outstanding teacher candidates who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Faculty of Education's Undergraduate Teacher Education Program and the teaching profession as a whole.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
Be a current first- or second-year student in the University of Ottawa's Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program (English Stream).
Must be in good academic standing.
Must demonstrate a strong, ongoing commitment to the teaching profession.
