Kiarash began his Ph.D. program in economics at SFU in 2020. His work is primarily applied, and his broader research interests include political economy and labour economics. In recent years, Kiarash's work has been focused on questions such as how voters respond to economic sanctions in Iran, how immigration trajectories affect immigrants’ economic success in Canada, and how access to 3G Internet has impacted female labor force participation in Iran. When he’s not conducting research, Kiarash is usually hiking or reading.
Louise Huiqian Song is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Simon Fraser University, specializing in Law and Economics, Economic History, Environmental Economics, and Family Economics. She has published research in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, focusing on the environmental impact of tenure security in Greece. In Fall 2025, she will join the Kyoto Institute of Economic Research (KIER) at Kyoto University as an Assistant Professor.
Mahyar Rezazadeh is a PhD candidate in Economics at SFU's Economics Department. He joined SFU as a PhD student in 2022 after completing his B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and M.Sc. in Economics at Sharif University of Technology, Iran. His research interests include Environmental and Labor Economics. In the most recent research, we study adaptation to climate change in the context of competitive runners around the globe.
