Metal Paintings

Expanding on his knowledge of materials, Vasilios Drakos began experimenting with movement of metal on metal and the luminous effect created by intense heat.

As Drakos takes the torch to his copper canvas, he allows the heat to introduce the colors and shadows which emerge from the warmth of the metal. Combining his imagination with the new found light, shadow, and color on the glimmering copper exposes the personality prevalent in each piece. Connecting his found object work and his admiration of the natural world, he begins to merge his thoughts and imagination with his materials.

The recognizable impression of natural elements is accentuated, yet intriguing through the glistening metallic medium.
