»Feminist Park Collective announcing the Summer School "Environmental Justice: Can an intersectional eco-feminism lens yield answers into anti-racist green urban spaces practices?"«

The Summer School targets the topics of climate change and anti-racism to map inequalities and places and practices of empowerment in urban green spaces. It aims to reveal the stories of environmental care from different perspectives: migrant and refugee backgrounds, Black, Indigenous and People of Color's (BIPoC) and queer experiences. Berlin in this case is a test ground where these communities find their ways to resist discrimination and create resilient eco-feminist practices.

The focus of the school is eco-feminist practices and reproduction labor towards the environment in connection with decolonial research. The summer school consists of seminars, workshops and public discussions. Researchers and citizens are invited to get acquainted with the practices and researchers that are led by activists and scholars critically examining the city. Fill the form here (click here)

💖Picnic and open discussion

💖Critical mapping workshop

💖Body awareness practice

💖Meditative Audiowalk

💖Collective role board game

During the Heterotopia Ilmpark symposium on the 11th of July 2023, the Feminist Park Collective delivered a thought-provoking talk titled "(Re)thinking green urban spaces: an (eco)feminist and anti-colonial urban lens." This presentation was a significant contribution to the symposium, shedding light on the social construction of spaces and unveiling the hidden biases and prejudices related to race and gender within green spaces.

During their talk, the Feminist Park Collective shared preliminary results from a survey on safety, emphasizing the need for alternative approaches to cultivating a sense of safety in urban parks. By challenging conventional policing and surveillance practices, they highlighted innovative methods that aim to create inclusive and secure environments.

The Feminist Park Collective expressed their gratitude to the symposium organizers for providing them with the platform to showcase their project. Their participation added a valuable perspective to the discussions, furthering the understanding of the intersectionality between feminism, environmentalism, and urban planning.
