Many states want more restricted laws on abortion. However, most of them are prevented from doing so because Roe v. Wade and the 14th Amendment.
Laws on restricting abortion access
Iowa enacted a law to ban abortion as early as six weeks. North Dakota has similar legislation. However, due to current litigation the law is not in effect.
A Kentucky law bans the primary method of abortion at 12 weeks. The bill is also not in effect because of on-going litigation.
A new law in Arizona requires individuals to give a specific reason in order to terminate a pregnancy.

Gov Greg Abbott signed into law a measure that would prohibit abortions in Texas as early as six weeks.
In Alabama, the Human Life Protection Act was set to impose a near-total ban on abortion in the state starting in November 2019.
Gov Kevin Stitt signed an executive order to limit all types of abortion services in Oklahoma except those that prevent serious health risks to the pregnant person.
