In the light of the current social, political and cultural international climate, we have been witnessing a more intense engagement of female public intellectuals in the public and political sphere. Through critical thinking and independent platforms of action, some of these public intellectuals have been playing a key role deconstructing the uprising of nationalist narratives, hatred discourses, demagogy, and misogyny towards “marginalized identities”. This conference seeks to bring together scholars and researchers in all disciplines whose work focuses on female public intellectuals. We hope to engage these issues while moving beyond past debates into new questions on the role of female public intellectual life in the 21st century.
