Vita Summary 

FEEL-SOON KANG (Member, IEEE) was born in South Korea in 1973. He received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Gyeongsang National University, Jinju, South Korea, in 1998 and an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Pusan National University, South Korea, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. From 2003 to 2004, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Osaka University, Japan. From 2004 to 2022, he was a Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering at Hanbat National University, Daejeon, South Korea. Since 2022, he has been a Professor at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Gyeongsang National University. His research interests include power electronics, including the design, control, and reliability analysis of various power conversion systems for HVDC, MVDC, Electric Vehicles (EV), Advanced Air Vehicles (AAVs), Electric Propulsion Ships (EPS), and other E-mobility systems. Prof. Kang is a member of KIEE, KIPE, and IEEE. He received the Student Award and Best Presentation Prizes from the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in 2001, and he was honored with Academic Awards from Pusan National University and Hanbat National University in 2003 and 2005, respectively. He also received several Best Paper Awards from The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE) and The Korean Institute of Power Electronics (KIPE). He served as the Vice-Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the International Telecommunications Energy Conference (IEEE Intelec 2009), IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (IEEE VPPC 2012), IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (IEEE ITEC 2016), and International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS 2010, 2013, 2018, and 2025), and as a Secretary of International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives (Maglev 2011). Prof. Kang was Associate Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS from 2004 to 2011.
