The Edward H. Matthews-class is a group of Frigates built for the United Federation of Paper Planes Starfleet by Gateway Co. The Frigates are multi-role vessels, and the first all-new Frigate class since the close of Ainsley Wall's Presidency.
The vessels were a personal project of John B. G. and Nicholas Lapord, until the test ship was successful. Vice President (and future President) Lapord authorized the construction of 10 ships for further research, and likely commissioning. The first ship, USS E. H. Mathews, was commissioned on the 30th of October, and the second, USS Tim Richardson, was commissioned on the 31st.
These are the first class of Frigates to break from the previous tradition of naming frigates after SPN members or Battles. The ships are all named after important paper plane designers, or others who have made advancements in the field.
E. H. Mathews - published the first wide-spread book on paper planes, almost creating the modern hobby as we know.
Tim Richardson - Outspoken on the subjects of stability and maneuverability in Paper Aviation.
Edmond Hui - creator of the ground-breaking paperang, 1977.
Micheal LaFosse - first ever full origami flying wing.
Ken Blackburn - Record Holder for Paper Plane flights until 1996, then 1998-2016
John Collins - Current record holder
